Statement of intent
Lo/ To produce a concise and clear statement

My brief is a print magazine, the target audience is 14-18 year olds.

My specific target audience is going to be aimed at females, I plan to appeal them by knowing that they can be different than a stereotypical female.

By researching specific magazines, I plan to make the masthead bold and bright, and be put on top of the photograph. Seeing the ideas, I have seen I plan to make my masthead to be bright and to stand out, with a different typography to make it look more interesting, at the top of the page. While researching the colour palette most of the magazines are brightly coloured for 14-18 year olds, to make it more dark colours (Like black and blue) to add the mood of what my magazine is going to be about, but have some brighter colours in the outfits in the photos. It will appeal because not every single girl likes bright colours so this is for teenagers who don’t like bright colours to enjoy it. The cover lines are going to be in black and have a different font to the masthead to make it stand out in a different way.

I am being anti-stereotypical with girls not wearing dresses or men just wearing suits it’s about however they feel comfortable.

I plan to use intertextuality by showing that in these hard times they still look powerful in their own skin.

Mock DIRT

1)Ofcom- regulator

2)Sk8er boy and teenage dirtbag

Media language:
  • Narrative (story)
  • Mise-en-scene (Costumes and setting)
  • Camera work
  • editing
  • soundtrack
Differences - explain and give an example

Music Videos use camerawork to differ from each other to reveal different moods and atmospheres in the music videos. They may choose to use naturalistic camera work to show the reality of a situation compared to using highly stylised camera work to show a professional style.
In the music videos i have studied a clear difference is seen in the use of media language through mise-en-scene.

3)
  • How target- methods
  • why- advertisers or public service
  • E.g live lounge

Radio producers target different audiences through the content of their radio programming, local radio stations are only available on FM in the local areas although some can be assessed through an online presence. Local radio targets a specific audience although their coverage of local events, weather, advertisement, local musicians.

Radio producers target specific audiences through their use of style and genre of a radio programme. this can be seen in Radio 1's live lounge which uses an acoustic style to attract their audience along with a younger person to attract a younger audience. This can be seen in Harry styles performance where he appeared and performed current hit to attract a younger audience then he performed a older hit by Fleetwood Mac to attract a wider audience especially when performed in an acoustic style.

4) Talk about an aspect that creates representation- image, text, colour setting?
what representation is created?
What does this suggest to the audience?

On the cover of Mojo magazine we can see that the image is monochrome
This image creates the representation of
This makes the audience think

5) similar elements of media language.
different elements of media language
use examples of each
state whether they are similar or different because of genre conventions or music type.Do they reflect magazine conventions or music conventions. use examples to support.

Mock DIRT - Lego Movie

BBFC rate ages in the UK.
'Game Rating Authority or the video standards council'
2)
Likely to be about media industries and theoretical framework.
2 reasons why they would release both film and video game. Give the reasons then explain them.
  • Strengthen the brand
  • Increase the fan enjoyment
  • increase the profit overall for the conglomerate.
  • Diversify the product so increase the possibility of success
3)
  • 2 Examples Given for the following
  • Know the theory well
  • Apply the theory to the film
  • Give specific examples from the film
Uses an Gratification
  • Entertainment - Pleasure and to escape the real world
  • Personal Identity - identify with characters in the film, rule models
  • Surveillance - Gain understanding of the world e.g news and information
  • Social interactions/ personal relations - Keep in touch via Video game communities or discuss the film with peers.
Blumer and Katz stated that media products were there for audience's entertainment, they were for pleasure and to escape the real world. This can be applied to the Lego Movie as this film creates a world that allows many to escape the real world and is quite humorous. We can see this specifically in the character of Lord Business as he is supposed to be the older parental figure in the film which creates humour as he is supposed to relate to parents.

Blumer and Katz stated that media products were there for the audience's entertainment, they were for pleasure and to escape the real world. This can be applied to the lego movie character identity. We can see this specifically in the character/ setting of Wyldstyle. This is because some people may identify with Wyldstyle because she is rebellious, she dosen't follow rules.

9)
How did the Promotional campaign target a family audience?
  • Poster
  • Tv Advert
  • Merchandise
