Comparing Music Magazine Covers

There are some clear differences between Top of the pops and The source. The target audience is quite different between the two magazines."Top of the pop is aimed at 10-25 year olds, whereas The source is aimed at 25+. The magazine featuring Jessie J is a pop genre magazine, however The source is a rock/rap genre.Top of the pop is made for girls whereas The source is for males. The masthead for Top of the pops is Bright and bold the colour for it is a pink which is a girly colour which would make the audience know that it is for young people based on girls. It follows for all the other lines in the magazine featuring Jessie J. The Source is a darker outlined masthead it is quite different from the other magazine. . The source uses a monochrome colour scheme (of black and white) which suggests that the magazine is masculine. But it also had a red theme in it for the artists name on the source. Mojo is for people who have severe interests in music. Mojo aimed target audience is 35 years and over. Mojo's aimed target is set on males. however in this edition it is a rock magazine. In this Mojo magazine featuring the band Fleetwood Mac the masculine colour would also indicate it being a rock magazine which it is. One of the free item surrounding the main image is a gold square. This bright colour would catch peoples eye to make them buy it. The colour is a golden which would attract the upperclass. The golden square is a cd that comes with the magazine. The cd that comes with the magazine, is a band called Motor City Soul  Soul, R&B, Funk, oldies, modern pop and rock. Based on the genre of the cd it would sense  that it is in this type of magazine. By picking a colour you will then find what is inside and what to expect. It is also what type of music genre you would like. In this magazine cover the colour pallets different to the other ones and is aimed at ages 12-35 years old. the colours are more vibrant to pop then rock.
